Question about my left thumb behind the fretboard when playing guitar?
Whenever I run down scales or just pick individual notes, my left thumb is directly behind the fretboard and is straight. But whenever I play a chord (not including barre chords), my thumb completely wraps around. Is this a normal style of playing?
As it has already been said, it is all about comfortability. I always for some reason thought it was like a bad habit, and not very professional, but hell I do the same thing all the time. I actually prefer the thumb wrapped around, cause it doesn’t put so much pressure on your thumb’s knuckle, haha.
But whatever is good for you dude!

Doesn’t matter if it is normal, as long as you are comfortable.
As far as your thumb wrapping around, that is common. Some guitarists use their thumb to fret the low E string.
